Women have been playing a great role in the life of the world since its creation. In antient times they were at the level of goddesses. Their possibility to give a new life was appreciated among ancient people. Time passed, women wanted to be more independent. But history didn’t want it.
At the Dark Ages women were a target for witch-hunters, they were considered to be a cause of wars and illnesses like plague. They had no opportunity to be educated, to be freedom and independent. In 19th century Brigham Young told: “You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.” As we know, church and kings didn’t want to see their peoples educated, clever and able to think. Therefore only a little of men were really educated.
But the wars came. While the men were fighting on the battlefields of WWI and WWII, their women worked at the plants where physical strength was needed. At the age of technological progress some stereotypes were obliterated. The woman flied to the space. I mean Russian spacewoman Valentina Tereshkova. Women became scientists equally with men.
Of course some inequalities are still alive. For instance, there is a stereotype that women have to sit with children and take care about the hearth. Some activists disagree with this opinion and they try to prove that every woman has an opportunity to choose her lifestyle on her own.
I can’t say that there are some strong perceptions about woman in my country. There is a lot of woman in politics, business industry and so on. But still there is an image of woman who is a mother and family-keeper. All these two part of woman’s essential are easy getting on together and always are mixed in one personality.
